In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it takes a lot of work to get a black belt, you need to go through tears, injuries, and tons of competitions in order to earn your black belt reward. Some people take up to 12 years to earn their black belts. My friends came to ask me many times “What belt are you now? I’ve seen you’ve been training a lot,” It’s not like you train one month and you’ll get promoted. Patience and practice is the must in BJJ. However, some people like to take a shortcut. You can just go online and buy belts and become a fake black belt. This problem has been happening around the US, the fake black belts were caught in the act. Some even opened their own schools and teach some made up techniques for their innocent students.
This fake black belt opened his own Marital arts school in Marlboro, Newyork. He claims to be an IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation) recognized black belt.
Another black belt was caught in the gym in Miami Beach
It’s not easy to get a black belt, it needs a lot of dedication and devotion. People will eventually find out if you are not a real black belt, and when they call out on you. Imagine how humiliating it would be…
“Discipline and consistency. I owe these two factors all have attained in my life. Things have never happened overnight. Results have appeared as a consequence of decades long toil. It is necessary to persist,” Master Carlos Gracie Jr.
Don't give up!
